    The Salzburg Festival from A-Z

The entire city becomes a stage.

The letters of the alphabet are combined with terms representing the Salzburg Festival and will be distributed throughout the city as well as in the central exhibit at the Salzburg Museum, inviting passers-by to explore one aspect of the anniversary. An Encyclopedia Walking Map will be available for interested parties, as well as a “hiking pin” for those that have visited all the letters.

Some of the letters will be placed outdoors, others in enclosed spaces. As a bridge between the exhibit and the outside world, the letters present content related to the location.

At some of the locations related to the Festival, the letters are extended to form satellites, smaller exhibits with specific topics. Just as at the Kunsthalle, there will be focus topics that are especially relevant to the given location.

Objects - like (open) books or stacks of works in a bookshelf - represent the individual letters. The outside of these objects is designed in analogy to the exhibit surfaces at the Kunsthalle, with the Festival logo providing the basic design element.

The objects may be open or feature an “open” side, thus allowing a view of the interior, their information. These information bodies make it possible to present both analog and digital programs with sufficient room for media technology.
